2008-05-31 - LABEL SHOWCASE: NETWORK23

  • In the area!!!!!
  • Network 23 is the label used by the members of the infamous Spiral Tribe to output some of their audible talent. Aliases such as R-Zac, Stormcore, SP23, Crystal Distortion and 69db. The Spiral Tribe sound came to be known as free tekno, also referred to as spiral hardcore, french hardcore and enimatek. The label also brought out records by invited artists such as Curley, Somatic Responses, Unit Moebius, Headcleaner and Les Boucles Etranges. The first releases were pressed at GZ-Vinyl and suffer from inferior sound quality. The records were initially sold at Spiral Tribe's (free) parties, but the label's current cult status only started to grow after it closed down, the records gaining recognition as collectable techno classics several years after they were released. The obscure nature of the label has led to speculation whether some records actually exist, such as, for instance, NTW 38 or 39 or Stormcore 4. On Sleizure we will be playing the Network 23 label for the listeners, to ensure that this sound does not get lost!
