2008-08-16 - ARTIST SHOWCASE: DOORMOUSE

  • Our tribute to the meat master Dan Martin
  • trans 2008 08 16 ARTIST SHOWCASE: DOORMOUSE must be something in the dairy that makes the midwest usa consistently produce some of the most prolific electronic music acts. this week on sleizure we're going to focus on west stallis wisconsin; a short throws distance from milwaukee's own Dan 'fucking' Martin Doormouse. He's been putting out some of the finest tracks since 1996, on various labels such as his own DISTORT and ADDICT labels. He was also a contributor to the legendary Massive Magazine in the 90s (RIP). Moving away from the typical hardcore sounds in the late 90s, he fostered a whole new sound of music that combines ear splitting samples with drum and bass to create a jungle breakcore mindfuck that you need to hear to understand. He further raised the bar by releasing a series of EPs focussing on different things that he loves - such as kraftwerk, country, rap, and "everything". Dan's been known for his stage presence, throwing raw meat at dancers at raves, punching out promoters and lighting their boats on fire, and a true master of the improvised live pa experience. He likes his beer, and he likes his meat. Now residing in Miami with his daughter Kayla, his music has taken radical shifts throughout the years, but still manages to keep it fresh and at the forefront of what music is today. It is only fitting that we do a showcase to this legend on SLEIZURE - showcasing his work of crowd favorites, and even some lesser known unreleased gems. SLEIZURE is a hard electronic show broadcast out of Vancouver BC on Friday Nights 1am - LATE Pacific Standard Time on 90.1 FM CJSF. That's out of Simon Fraser University. We regularly podcast our shows, but if you want to listen live check out http://www.sleizure.ca trans 2008 08 16 ARTIST SHOWCASE: DOORMOUSE
